Siege..... Ott?

The caves aren't an 'alternative', they are the main part of the event. Snowbrook province is a minor extra bit for a bit of fun.

Why are you not interested in the main part of the event?

Probably because he just wants to farm the best mobs for easy items/stones.

Scorp done this event well tbh its balanced nicely from what i see we dont have hundreds of stones dropping everyday and the exp is worthwhile at the same time mob drops and boss drops are decent!

For me, absolute legend of an event.

Last year I found a big wash out but either because Andy has changed the level bands or because I am in a level sweet spot, I have had huge amounts of fun levelling.

I haven't had the best of items drop but I have had loads of reds, and 2 x chrimbo pets.

The invasions are, as someone wrote, bonkers but such a hoot.

MIR shouldn't be boring and predictable, that amount of mobs in one place sure put paid to any complacency.

So, for me, levelling has been spot on, invasions mad (but in a good way) and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Thank you Andy, a job well done :)

Only difference between this and last years was the invasion and snowbrook mobs. Camped the -120 area last year and made obscene amounts of money/gear for my level. At 130 dont have a chance of killing boss let alone a red sub as the stat gap is huge. Tried asking for group during a late night invasion but got ignored. Not everyone will be happy but with the numbers running the map itd personally prefer more event mobs with lower chance of drop.

^^^^ exactly this!

Well done gm's great event, miss it already.

I'd like to thank Andy for this event, it's been tremendous and certainly one of the best thought out ones. The timing was perfect, I think 1 more day I'd have started getting bored.

There's the old broken record of "people moan if things stay the same, then moan if they change". It's a hard balance for Andy to find a way of pleasing everyone, and this event has struck the balance excellently, by using an event that was mostly the same as previous, so the people who wanted repetition got exactly that, but also with new twists like the siege and the extra level band, to mix things up just enough to satisfy those who like change and new things.

The frost giants was an inspired idea, as last year the snowbrook map was just full of store chars RTing around looking for santas etc, having the frost giants dotted around was a great way of making people use their main chars to hunt santas, as the store chars would get smacked.

I also appreciate the planning that went into the level bands. There were some complaints before about low level players going into the highest level caves and there not being enough for the higher levels to kill. That wasn't the case this time, as the benefit to going into the highest level cave was removed. The experience gained per kill in the top two caves was almost identical, the only difference is the insane ones were a lot more dangerous but did drop significantly better. For lower levels it simply wasn't worth it to go into the insane cave, that achieved exactly what was needed. Spawns in insane cave were just right too, enough that a group could keep moving and always had something to kill, but not so fast that you could just stand in one spot and kill endlessly.

I know some lower levels complained about the siege, but realistically it was only 3 or 4 hours out of every day, and the times were random, so most people who didn't want to or were unable to partake in the siege weren't inconvenienced massively. The benefits certainly outweighed the costs on this one. It gave a lot of active players a good reason to group up and kill lots of interesting bosses, and even invited some quite fun PK action on occasion.

The elephant in the room though, and probably the only complaint you'll hear from me on the matter of the event, is about that issue with the guards. We won't name any names here, that's not what this is for, but safe to say I'm fairly confident all of the major guilds did this, so everyone is equally guilty. Luring bosses near town to get the guards to chop down the HP, then luring it away when it's nearly dead and finishing it off. Bit of a grey area where some might consider that a rule breach, but whatever it is, it probably shouldn't be possible. I'd encourage you Andy to find a way to prevent that kind of action being taken in future events. The obvious choice would possibly be to just beef up the guards so they 1 hit everything? But that would suck if something really good spawned too close to town. Maybe something could be built into the boss AI where it "likes" to avoid towns, and it will be impossible to lure it near, would possibly be a cleaner and more "in universe" solution.
