Announcement Helping Hero

Ive only done it once on my Tao and I got put I to a room with loads of bugbatmaggots and the bonetalon boss. Had only a few MP and hp pots drops with a fine oil and a bene. Cost me 3 mil to do the quest and it gave me 25 demons souls. At level 198 the exp was nothing special. I'll try and few more and see if anything improves. But not impressive so far. But that's only 1 attempt so I guess I can't really give an opinion until I do more of them. But it's something new to do on the server. So that's a plus 😁
 
if i dont do quest as it requires a source that is hard to get will it reset or am i done doing quest now?
Will let you know soon, as my baby warrior (Zado) got one yesterday that needed Guardian source, which I'm not wasting on that, so will find out later today.

If it doesn't reset then I think we should report it as a bug, because that will be a blocker for a lot of people

So to get 30 odd ds or whatever it’s going to cost us 200 plus GG or months of being unlucky to get 1 drop from RDD etc
Really poorly thought out especially if a lower level player with no access to funds etc got this quest
I hope this resets after 24 hrs or can see a lot off less well off players being stuck for ages and missing out ….

Mine wanting Treasure source since it refreshed yesterday, will have to wait a while to confirm if it changes

It's random, different each day

The first step of the quest seems to have one of 4 requirements ranging from easy to hard
  • provide some basic ingredients (such as peacebloom, liferoot etc)
  • get kill chain to a certain level (I've had 4, 6 and 8 so far)
  • spend some mythic essence (100 or 200 so far, maybe some other prices will be in the list too)
  • supply a mythic source (seems there was a time when some sources were considered valueless, maybe this was designed to change that, but they have already vanished from AH as people realise they now have value again)

There are various different quests you can get, I've not yet spotted a pattern so I'm unsure if the quest you get is linked to the first step, but I think it would be good if the harder requirements led to more difficult but also more lucrative quests

I do think that the quests not resetting after 24hrs of non-completion seems like a bug, or at least unintended / not-thought-out behaviour. As there will be cases when people simply can't complete the requirement so they should be allowed to mark the quest as failed/quit so it can give them a new one the next day.

Do you get to keep the source or does it get swallowed?
 
Mine at Ayarin today cost 3,000,000 to enter and it was so packed with mobs died in just a few seconds. Try go go back in and you are not allowed 'hard luck, try again another time' he says.

At least provide a relatively safe entry point to give a chance to assess the challenge!

Which map did you get? I've been teleported into some tight bits but not had anything that I'd call completely packed.
 
I liked the concept of personalised mini quests BUT the cost to participate Vs the reward is totaly unbalanced!!!
I did it on my warrior Xarris
1st had to give 100 mythic essence points to get a vessel of 50 Demon souls
2nd had to give 200 mythic essence points to get a vessel of 45 Demon souls (suppose i lost 5 killing 1 of the flying dragons accidently)
I talked to NPC been on my tao and it asks for a Guardian Source (in market you lot know the value) which suppose will lead to win a 50 Demon souls Vessel. This i decided NOT to give in and try it.
If this will be the concept of this Helping Hero Quest its a no point to do, for me at least.
 
So far I've had to cough up 200 myth source and 300 myth source, and gained 20 and 50 souls.... which i dont really need.... seems to me a mechanism to clear game of stored myth items, spare sources and hoover up some gold .... all for souls? humbug.

Nice idea, but a bit expensive for.... not much apparent reward... I may be mistaken as Ive only heard max 50 souls so far, compared to a payment of 300 myth ess? Meh.
 
Tried twice now at level 190 mobs way too hard. Second time I was tiled into a scorpion snake red level 208! As if I’m ever going to kill that! Come on, seriously is this for real?
I really want the extermination quest back 🙏🏼

It's a difficult balance for GM to make, some people will find it far too hard, some people will find it far too easy. Can't just be based on level because kit is far more relevant than level, so maybe it just needs to vary more randomly so sometimes it's much easier and sometimes it's much harder, with harder ones giving better rewards (to be worth putting the effort in!)

That way, if it's too hard for you one day, you can just abandon it and hopefully get an easier one the next day.

Or (and some people might hate this idea, just putting it out there) make them start off easy and if you do them every day they get harder and harder until you fail.
 
Got to give it time. Relax people, a lot of thought and effort clearly has gone into this. I got a difficult one to do on Child but then a really easy one on Bond, it didn't make sense really but the exp for the one on Child was actually really good and I could've stayed to clean all that up.

It is a decent addition for the game that some people will enjoy doing daily, it is much more engaging than the extermination meter bounty quest was, which was what @Scorpian wanted to implement on a previous thread.
