Was talking a few days ago with a low level player who said they couldn't find protection field book anywhere. I showed them mudwall bookshop and they were amazed that they had forgotten all about that place.

I wondered if any other low level warriors were suffering the same setback, so I did an experiment, bought 20 protection field books from the mudwall shop (4.5k each) and put them in AH at 10k. Almost all of them have sold already, and it wasn't just 1 person buying them to resell at higher price as I'd expected, it was all different low level warriors buying them to use.

I think this shows that mudwall bookshop needs to be advertised a bit better, there's a ton of books in there that low levels are probably running around missing, and they should not be deprived of that!

Not sure what the solution is, whether it's to just move the npc somewhere easier to find, or just share the knowledge that it exists and hope that gets passed along when people ask. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on it, peace out <3

I think getting low lvl books should become part of quests and as well as drops.. interaction between players and different npcs as part of a quest would definitely give a players a purpose and direction. GM could always add some of these books as part of the reward for completing current quests that are available.

I fully agree in theory, I'd love that, but the unfortunate facts are that the current quest lines actually do what you're saying very well, but people skip them because they have no other benefits. They were designed very well at the time, but we're aimed at level 40-70 back in the days when those levels took 20 days rather than 20 minutes

People come here from other servers and want to be level 120 on day 1 and aren't interested in spending weeks doing quests. Some people are interested, some people (like me) love them, but that's definitely a minority group.

I think if anything was to change somewhere between these two extremes, would be something like the old missing pages quest like entra... vampi... etc used to be in Zuma dungeon. Have an old burnt down bookshop that has all the 'part ruined' books and let the noobs buy them really cheap but then have to hunt in relevant areas to get missing pages to complete the book before they can use it. Account bind them too to so people actually get a sense of achievement. Have the completed book drop as normal too of course, so people who want to pay over the odds to skip that stuff still have the option

Yeah fair enough - I have updated the Hunter's Resource to contain skill book locations (for now).

Really those books need to be implemented better into some revised lower level content and as you say guide the players to the bookshop there.
