The boss we're never happy with :)

Just been thinking about this guy a bit this morning...

The brutes that he spawns, at the moment there's not really any reason to kill them, most people who go to kill it regularly can safely ignore the brutes (repulse/confuse etc) and the effect of that is that if a lower level wants to give the boss a go, he usually will find a bunch of brutes hanging over the door to kill him as soon as he walks in. That is not how the boss was designed, the brutes only spawn when the boss is lowered to certain HP bands, so they should not be there at the start, it's unfair for less experienced players to not even get a look at the boss.

So I've been contemplating how to encourage people to kill the brutes.

Making them drop is out, as they used to drop and Scorpian made it clear that was not what he wanted and it was changed.

So how about a new mechanic... cause the brutes to give NL a defence buff. Each brute alive in the room adds 30-30 AC and 30-30 MAC to NL, so if you're ignoring them and end up with 20 brutes wandering around, NL will be basically untouchable. You need to clear the brutes as they spawn to "unlock" the ability to kill NL quickly.

Would just add a little bit of extra jazz to the room, and make it a smidge harder and more interesting for the people who kill it regularly.

Thoughts?

I think you're right in saying that it would make it more fun. However I am also fond of soloing it with ease so wouldn't mind either way

tis a crap boss boys i wouldnt bother

i say double the brutes , make them drop , add 1 blue brute per wave and increase NL's actual drops , maybe ill start killing it again then

Its such a cool looking boss that he could extend the cave a little further by making the door into the hut a medium sized underground tunnel (im thinking the 1st floor of REL route) with a healthy volume of mobs what you have to fight through before you reach his throne, have some stone mobs in his kr where when you run around they wake up and come for you. Ofc his drop rate should be adjusted according to the effort required and include gold bars like some other bosses.. At the moment he is little to no effort to kill so you can't expect good drops regularly.
So my suggestion in a nut shell is to beef him up and make it another decent boss hunt that would be worth while.

Ooh I like that idea :)

How bout make brutes subs so they can’t be confi/lr as well as beefing up NL stats and increase drops to match

I wouldn't recommend it being made a lot harder and increasing drops, it was a high level boss in it's day but it's now a mid level boss and should remain so, just could do with spicing up a bit imo

tbh its fine , as a lvl 160+ boss that drops the rarest kit ingame and the highest lvl spells there are currently, i wouldnt consider it a mid lvl boss nor would i think it needs to be catered for low-mid lvls or spicing up as it was only completely redone a little over a year ago. You would of loved it when it spawned Elites :p

Iv been killing NL almost everyday since February and had nothing more than a 158 uni.. maybe get 2 . But lately been lucky to even get that . I agree with one of the other guys idea that NL is an awesome boss visually and has crazy reflect and debuff skills . Someone in game told me that it has been nerfed a lot to what it used to be . But as a boss that has a 3 hour respawn time and gives more GP points than the new Loki , I would expect more for this boss . Maybe make it stronger and like the other guy said add a few more floors or even a maze and make it challenging again with better rewards ...
