Hello everyone!

I've just started my adventure! After a long childhood of I think watching Mir3? on TV I never actually managed to play it - I was always with Ultima Online back then. I've always wanted to have a go and decided to give it a try!

I'm playing Wizard and I've started with Emily.

I notice now I should indeed be looking for the level 8 skill book but they only seem to be dropping the first tier skills, I've had Healing and Fireball but no luck yet! Maybe this is a just a grind but want to make sure I'm not at the wrong location :)

Welcome! Hope you're enjoying your adventure so far :)

If you click on the GameGuide notice board in town (looks like this)

Then click 'begin' then click 'skill book locations', it takes you to a screen that looks like this

The Border village book shop is inside the library, entrance door is at 285:396

When you speak to Steven the bookseller inside the house you'll then need to click on the 'Misc' tab to see the books he sells.

There are higher level books available in other book shops, but you'll find those easily enough when you get to that level.

Welcome anything you need just msg the guy above!! He will gladly help you with anything game gold or gold and exp/kit. Only twist is be prepared to give it back when he asks for it otherwise you be going on his KOS list lol and he has a massive list

Welcome, the best bits are the early days so dont rush to level and enjoy the quests / upgrade quests while you are going and dont worry about having a amazing kit because it all comes. enjoy the events

Thats a very good point that I'm always trying to explain to people. Those who rush through levels tend to get bored sooner and quit. Those who enjoy the journey tend to stay long term
 
Thanks so much guys! I think the quest was bugged for sure hence my confusion! The mobs I was told to drop didn’t drop the book I was told to collect!

I found a thread that told me about that library but thanks Zed!

I’m completely new to Mir however I remember watching it as a kid and I’m having a blast! I came across a random player last night (my first in the wild) shoutout MrBitCoin who was super nice and helpful.

I’ve left the starter area now I think (done with Emily) and I’ve just arrived in what appears to be a group of masculine males flexing with lots of glowy things and items I don’t understand 🤓

I’ve found Farmer, and completed the first quest which seemed to level me crazy! Looking forward to getting on after work today I’m fairly casual as work around Family.

Really look forward to meeting some of you out and about.

Is there any discord or just forums (I actually love the forum vibe) it feels just like it did back in the UO days before ventrilo and team speak! Anyone remember roger wilco!!

I’d be interested if anyone could point me into some direction regarding Wizards play guide. Skills to focus and such, also I seem to cap at level 3 on skills. I’m assuming this is some form of soft cap and there’s a way to push skills beyond this?

I’m still finding new spells (I can’t seem to hit the flame and lightning that goes through multiple enemies well don’t know what I’m doing wrong there!

I’m trying to stack damage increase uhh SC? If I’ve got that right. MC might actually be the one I forget.

Apologies if I take a while to reply, I have some form of new player block so need to wait for approval on my post. If the person reviewing could also spell check and do grammar for me that would be swell ❤️

I wrote a wizard starter guide a few years ago, it's a sticky thread on this board. It'll be quite out of date now as things change over time with various updates, but most of it should still be vaguely right

Skills level to 3 through usage. They go to 4 later on but that's something for a LOT later. Consider 3 the cap for now.

MC is for wizards
SC is for taoists
DC is for warriors

So as a wiz, DC and SC won't help you at all, focus on MC

New forum accounts are on post approval by default but that gets lifted automatically after a while, just need to put up with it for now unfortunately. There has been issues with spam in the past so it's a necessary evil to keep things pleasant.

For global discussions generally just use the forum. Most of the large guilds have WhatsApp groups and/or discord servers that are private for guild activities and chat.

Check the sticky threads and the link in my signature for additional guidance. You can always message me any time and I'll help out with any advice you need
