GG Options

Looking at the GG Options in the shop, is there much point for the 10 & 50gg options?

I'm guessing and I may be wrong but most of the people who I would have though contribute to the server would be the mid to higher level players where in reality if you need or want to buy gg it's for items that even 1,550 isn't that much. Would it be feasible to swap out the 10 & 50kk options and replace them with higher cost options with more gg, even upto a £250 option wouldn't be out of realms if the gg was right.

If anything, the gamegold price is too expensive.

The price should stay the same but get 2500gg for £100, and the price of consumables like torches, dura pots, items from shops should remain the same.

The cost of gamegold is by far the most common excuse amongst people who have left the server.

Yeah its free 2 play, but good luck getting anywhere on this game without donating, which is off putting to most casual players.

If anything I'd go the other way, affording gg shop consumables is no problem for a casual player in my opinion. The problem comes with the massively overpriced items that are pushed up by a small handful of people paying very high amounts for items, which makes things unattainable for everyone else.

The biggest issue is that casual players find it hard to make gg because Butcha has single handedly pushed the price of gold bars through the floor with his "game shop" stalls. I know it's a free market and all that yada yada but if people used a bit of common sense and sold gold bars themselves and bought their consumables from the actual game shop, it would be a lot cheaper for them, and the gold bar price would go up if he stopped selling them. Just people are too lazy to do the maths and realise how much they are getting ripped off lol, it's just a shame it ends up affecting the casual players more and is a very hard thing to fix

Fair enough there Daz, it's nice to actually have it explained from another person's point of view, it is always the casual player who gets the brunt end of things.

He could introduce price caps and also a set minimum price for Gold sold on AH and stalls, but I just don't see from Scorps perspective why he would do that.

The most active players are completely unaffected by gold bar prices, as there's never really any reason to buy or sell them. It's purely a market for the casual players who want to hunt some gold and make a bit of gg so they can buy 'special' things.

For those players it's frustrating to see gold bar prices so low, but for GM it's probably a good thing as it means people will be more tempted to just buy GG rather than try to sell bars.

This might put off some people who don't want to spend any money from playing, and works to thin the community, but how that balance is a decision for GM to consider and decide on himself I would guess

As a casual player who hasn't donated in about 18months I gotta say affording the small stuff people take for granted is sometimes very difficult.

E.g. I spent 6months trying to save for an icedrakeneck but during event on last day of it I managed to get to 1kgg so got the reduced price tele, which left me with 4gg, afterwhich I was forced to put everything and anything on ah at rock bottom prices and it still took 5 days before anything sold, that was 5 days I couldn't play at all as I refuse to hunt without a dura pot (the only pot I ever buy):chargrined:

Changing gg prices wont change my stance I had to cut myself off as I was spending a fortune, but it may do for others.

Also just a point, as a casual player who plays with other non donators, the gg income for us doesn't come from gold anymore with access nowadays to maps like paradise and naga every 3 hour dur pot yields 10 items on average, and usually one of them can be salvaged and sold easily for 30ish gg

Interesting. Please keep doing that. I'll buy good designs :p

I completely get it Aro. I think removing the ability to trade gamegold would help the game but I imagine Scorpian is still making at least hundreds and maybe atleast a thousand pounds a week from donations here.

Removing gg trading would really solve a lot of problems and create an actual level playing field and better market. Cant see it happening though.

Interesting discussion!

That's the way I see it too. I believe people leaving over the cost of GameGold is more akin to quitting because of the effort required to play the game and maybe not understanding the market (because no other games allow the movement of the £ bought currency). My point is that the values people place on these items is more a measure of effort, it's SellerA is selling his ring for 1000 GG because you can buy 1500 GG for £100, as soon as you can buy 3000GG for £100 you can guarantee he will be selling his ring for 2000 GG - simply because someone will be willing to pay it. And of course that happens on other games - you just don't know because it is sold over whatsapp for cash!

Imagine that there were only a handful of Teleport Rings in game - do you think someone would sell you one for 1500 GG?

If anything its as transparent as it gets and the GameShop (as we offer it) really has never been cheaper:
1) Prices have stayed the same or gone down - it may seem silly to think of it like this but if you go to https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation/inflation-calculator and put in £100 for 2013, that is equivalent to £117.20 in 2020
2) In terms of amount of GG per £ the £99 rate for 1550 GG (which we offer today) is better than the old £260 for 4000GG rate (which hits at he OPs point, that price point on review just didn't seem appropriate or fair you start over-rewarding players with more £).

On the contrary I believe things are much more accessible to players who do not with to spend any £ - eg you can earn ~50 Gold Bars and buy a Teleport Ring from the GameShop. Otherwise you have no chance to buy from the GameShop

I partially agree but only to the extent that if the increase in GG was OP, if there was a small bonus for larger amounts then yes the more you put in gets you a small reward but not to the point it's OTT. Personally a small reward for those supporting the server would surely be expected?

Hmmm, yeah you're absolutely spot on about all of that.

At the end of the day, gamegold and donating is always going to be a sensitive topic isn't it, because none of us expect you to put all this hard work in for us to enjoy, for free.

I donate what I can afford to, when I can afford it and am happy to do so. I have felt the addiction before and over-spent, and left the game as a result of it, and I know quite a few people who have done the same thing - I just keep coming back! Lol

I'd like to see some special offers on GG once in a while, the prices people sell items for will always be high and people will find a way to make GG, that's why you out a cap on pricing otherwise prices will be stupidly high.

I only buy GG now when there is an event, haven't bought any lately as game is dead.

would it not be easier to just make a shop that you can sell bars to for x amount of GG? would get rid of people like bucha as there will indefinitely be a set price for a gold bar. and if someone really needed gold instead of GG they would have to buy it out of AH.

Wouldnt work, server would be swamped with gold bots and they would then undercut the gameshop

true what if making things like potions and torches etc. from game shop character bound like certain pets.

Very nice idea tbh. People who don't donate can still sell bars to buy from the gg shop. But we remove all the annoying stalls.

I love that idea and hope we can find a way to make it happen, but if I can play devil's advocate for a moment I'd remind people it would remove the ability to gift torches etc. to friends mid-hunt. So would need to put a little bit more effort into preparation. I know most of us do anyway but just something else to bare in mind
