I am not noticing many fresh players joining the server?

I notice this as i try and help new players often, i mean i want them to stick around.

I find this a little concerning for the longevity, can you implement something to make it more attractive to new players, is enough server advertising being done? Upon checking LOMCN i see lots of players on other servers, if it was me, i`d want them here :)

Examples:

They log into Border Village, first quest pays 100k and then directs them straight to the farmers more Money Quest.

Make a simple quest for the most basic of spells in bags, Slaying, SFB, FireBall etc, i get a lot of new players really struggling on Gold / Spells. I`m not saying give them it on a plate, but quests for spells and even kit upto lvl 90 aint going to affect much (No rares)

Maybe you can re introduce Skull Island or whatever it was called.

I`m not saying hand it on a plate to them, just very basic things that cant be to difficult to implement.

I started in that event was great running with new people (i usually help new players too but as stated hardly any new ones these days), not many of us left really from skull island, many I knew have quit as they got peed off with constantly being pked by 190+ players when they are in the 160 - 180 range I am only 190 (admittedly with not the best kit in the world) but I die in seconds so i just tt / rt, lower levels are screwed.

Some are put off too by the toxic nature of certain players who say rather nasty things ranging from kidnapping young boys to attacking underage kids... everyone knows about it but they seem to get away with it, also hard to know who to trust as so many accounts are shared its unreal (respect to those high levels that done the work solo I am struggling keeping my sanity at 190!).

The one thing thats stops me making a new char is all the early game boring stuff like getting skills/noob kit and noob island was a perfect start for anyone coming onto this server and it was safe ish.

i would just make a tao and become OP :p

People have been posting these concerns forever. It's summer, there's patterns that form the same every year, this is the quietest time of year.

Most people who play this are people who originally played Mir as children, and are here for the nostalgia, hence are now in the 25-45 age range, most have children, the summer is not a time for adults to play.

It will pick up again, don't worry about it. The server has gone through slumps a million times quieter than what you see right now and recovered just fine, bang on schedule

This was not really what i was getting at, i understand quiet times, i am in that age range, Married with a family of 3 children, a puppy as well now (Worse than a new baby).
I want to see new players, new characters etc. Not people (Who already have high level characters) logging in for War or when they get a spare couple hours to hunt.

Everybody, and I literally mean everybody who plays Mir, has played Arcadia. The absolute who's who of pvp and pve players have walked the lands of this server. Scorpian is very well known in the LOMCN community, he is the only guy to keep servers both running and engaging, for as long as he has done. This is why, as Zade says, that you see the user count pick up in events. Around 40% of those players come back to play.

Skull Island was amazing because it was an event, if that was a regular thing then it would become very boring. The introduction to the game is spot on imo, if people want to play then they will spend an evening or so completing the Emily storyline. For me, there is so many vital mechanics now in the game like Vault and evolving Arcamon that has no introduction to new players, listing an item on the AuctionHouse etc, these are all basic things with no introduction to use it. Those simple task, simple reward quests that Scorpian is looking for are right there. Timeless, easy, rewarding, MMO style.

Bang on point.

I can see only two posts on this subject that actually understand, again i did not mention the server being quiet, but the fact i believe "NEW" players aint attracted to the server for many reasons, some of which i mentioned above.
When i started playing in October 2023, i nearly did not proceed as i felt i could not get competitive for numerous reasons, other players already being at Level 199 with Max kits etc, i thought to myself, whats the point? Until Butcha helped me and gave me spells, kit and Gold then showed me the Farmers Quest (More money) boom lvl 82 with kit and all the spells i needed because of him only, without this, i would of 100% not bothered. Butcha helping me this day actually brought myself and 4 additional players (Friends & Family of mine) who still play today.

Thursday last week a fellow Warrior (Lvl 90) literally had no spells and was going to just log and fk it off, i assisted him got what he needed, but i have not seen him again since, i wonder why? Because he did not have a clue what to do where to go or fk all

Just make the start up easier and give them the most basic of spells and kit and make it obvious to what they are meant to do. Most of these will go to Euro Caves (BDD), just up the mob level of these caves maybe ?

fk knows cba anyway, peace

Sure it's not a manicured experience (which struggles to keep up with updates), but on those points in particular, players under level 135 periodically receive in-chat tips on where to hunt - and can instantly tele to those locations using Quick Hunt on H portal. Skills up to level 55 are in merchants who all list the locations of the other skills

We've found making early game easier may give a temporary boost to new player uptake but long term it creates new barriers and the same problems persist

1 area needs to be addressed is that of PK of lower levels I have introduced several players over the years Skull island was a good spring board but once that ended and the entered real mir after a month or so getting to like 165-175 they were harrased to quitting by being pked in bugs tomb of the dead basically anywhere where celestial gear could drop and books for thier level could drop for thier further advancement , as long as its possible to kill players 20-30 levels lower in a cave designed for advancement at the apporiate level then there will always issue of newer players sticking around to catch up in time ...............

Maybe I have been extremely lucky but I spent quite a while in Tomb of the dead longer than I should of really and not once did someone try to PK me. Have been to bugs a few times due to the kind help from a higher level and again no PK happened.

Again I might of been lucky or maybe that kind of PK has hopefully died down a little now?

I'd say you been very lucky... I know players that target both these areas.

As a new player, i've received help from a few good oldies who's given me some gear and gold to start off. My biggest gripe is the drop rates for spells. Im still using Firewall because nothing drops better. Sure, i've purchased some from AH at the 100-500k range, but apparantly farmed Crystaline Passages since level 118-127 and not a single Inferno skill drop. I've been there for an entire week farming that book. But hell level 30-50 mobs drop skillbooks like candy! Hitting a leveling wall and at the point of giving up. I don't mind the grind, but for god sake...drop the book!

You could grind gold sell bars for gg and buy from gg store for 100gg probably faster than trying to get the book to drop

True - but then i'd be playing any kinda P2W game - I'd like the oldstyle satisfaction of grinding - but to a certain extent, not a paywall

Thats unfortunately true. Definitely faster to do it that way, although somewhat less satisfying
Yep exactly, I believe paying players who support the server should be rewarded, and I wouldn't mind paying for QoL, teleports, storage + exp boosts etc, but for fundatmental spells/skills that stops character progression? abit hard to keep going as a newbie

They do drop quite a bit, build your eradication meter drop a find potion and hunt during full moon for double drops you'll have one in no time. They on ah for about 20gg so the gear that drops that you don't need convert into gold then buy if you still don't have any luck. That's not p2w that's any mmo economics
