    It's a difficult balance for GM with bosses like that. When it was first introduced it was a really top boss that provided a challenge, and the items that dropped seemed good at the time. It's killed a lot more often/quickly now with little to no effort, but the items in it's drop files have less value than they used to, so it seems relatively less interesting. If he increased the drop rate of stuff, then it would be good for a very short period of time, then those items will soon have no value, so it goes back to being pointless. Low drop rate is very frustrating, but really it's the only way to keep a server going long term

    Id disagree to be honest it was never a challenge to kill lotd id say its harder to kill the guardians as you have more mobs around them and a smaller area to use to kill it and the mobs l. Where as lotd has basic melee AI and spawns usually in area with more space and not so many mobs. Only time it gets a little tougher is with pk .

    All the bosses are pretty woahful in there AI its basically melee attacks from the boss up close baring stuff like RD(not ingame) Mount, Raezhor, new loki, nagalord, toa subs these are the only ones which offer a tiny amount of challenge and fun. Can usually hit the boss pop a mp pot on a warrior with para and khaz go afk and dont worry, wizs just lay fire/ice and run kill with range, taos just set there 500 pets on the boss then occasionally chuck a boreal or zombie charge in its so dull not having any exciting bosses

    The other bosses which count for the majority of semi worthwhile bosses are just so basic and dull

    I mean please can we have some more advance AI and when you do that make the drop file actually reflective of the difficulty

    You make a lot of good arguments and then defeat your self right at the end with new Loki.... you want a challenge but as soon as a boss comes in that takes more than 5 mins to kill and means half your group die a couple of times ie. a challenge, u moan

    If top guild can kill top boss in 5-10 mins and no one dies then what is the point??

    Personally I think what we have is great but we just need more to please the masses. If there was another 2 130-140 140-150 and 150-160 caves I think it would solve a lot of discontent.

    Now is this easy to put in? Probs not as GM’s pride themselves on taking time over new content and making it new and interesting.

    HOWEVER, would the server count really care if the same mob stats where c&p over from current mobs and put onto new ones? (Drop files and all) I doubt it...

    Take an old barely used map like ST, make it super savage ST and use mob stats from isles and lakes. Boom new lvl 140-150 cave. Yes I know it’s not that simple BUT it does require a shit ton less work than re working a whole load of new maps and stats / drops

    ZantureDemon was epic when it was first introduced on p69 years ago.. Maybe I think back with some nostalgia but it would be good to see an EvilCentipede style boss appear again, its such a cool mechanic and hammers players when stats are aligned!

    On the other hand, would this current player base have the patience for it though !

    You hit the nail on the head with your last sentence.

    Bosses too easy = they get killed all the time = drop rates need reduced to stop server being ruined = everyone moans
    Bosses too hard = hardly anyone has patience to put some work in = everyone moans

    I was actually thinking about this last night after reading this thread

    It made me realise that bosses themselves don't necessarily have to be the challenge, bosses that are killable and have good drop rates can exist if reaching that boss is a challenge. This server seems very orientated towards either grinding levels, OR smashing bosses, OR generating gold. At the moment you pretty much have to pick which one of those am I going to do today. We should have more mechanics that encourage players to do all of the above at the same time, thus making the gameplay more dynamic and engaging.

    Maybe we could have some kind of mechanic that looks like this...
    NPC teleports you into a special individual cave (idea like arena, but maybe not that map, maybe one of the @pvp maps?) and mobs spawn that are suited to your level, you must kill the main boss in this map to get an "amulet part". These parts are radioactive so only last a couple of days, and are not tradeable. You must collect amulet(part1), amulet(part2), amulet(part3) and combine them using the crafting combination bag window. Once you've entered the cave you cannot enter again for 6 hours (or 4, or whatever works out to be suitable, can be tweaked), so if you die or otherwise fail you might not be able to make the amulet before your other parts disintegrate. This map will require great skill and technique, not just brute force, to win, so collecting these amulets will be the main challenge. The reward for doing so would be completion of the amulet, there will be a top cave that's got all the big bosses with increased drop rates, but entering it requires everyone in the group to hand over a completed amulet. The individual cave where you win the amulet parts would be the difficult bit, and would be challenging enough that getting into the big cave is a rare treat, and thus, drop rates inside that cave can be safely increased without risking ruining the economy.

    Obviously that's just a really rough idea that I thought up last night while waiting for my son to finish his chess match, but the general concept might be of interest.

    Let me stop you there...

    They can correct me if i am wrong but i think it took Notorious about 3 hours about 15 people and about 50 recalls....this is a challenge but it is one not fun and two just downright too much

    I mean most casuals dont have 3 hours to spend just for one boss the logistics of getting the amount of people organised for this amount of time is a joke then usually the drop is one relevant item which has to be shared/rolled between a group of many.

    Please explain which bits you enjoy out of a 3 hour boss and maybe ill change my mind :P

    Notorius did that on day 1 when the boss came out, nobody had any shock guards, and Scorpian did say that there is a technique to it which nobody had worked out yet (has anyone actually worked it out yet?). They just went at it with blunt brute force, that's always going to take a lot of time.

    It's probably possible to do a lot faster, and every time you kill it will be faster than the last time, but it'll take a lot of pain and a lot of difficult attempts and a lot of learning to get to the point where it becomes worthwhile.

    Look at RDD when it was first released, it was months before anyone got past RTZ, now it's a piece of piss for any semi-organised group

    Played a server once which had a cave will no map view and very low lighting, almost like a fog of war.. Made it very interesting and keeped you on your toes. Might be worth looking at as a weekly event.. Different bosses each week maybe.

    As zade pointed out it took 3 hours of “charge!!!” To kill it.

    I bet you 5star could work it out and refine a method to kill in under 30mins with the right group and kit on (heaven forbid you may actually need dif kit for dif caves!!!)

    I have no idea who you are in game or what guild ur in but you seem to be very negative on forums =(

    Killed Loki last night in 10 mins 😊
    Drops have also massively improved from all bosses ingame as well

    What few bosses I've been too seem to have improved. Even seen a Lotd drop a couple of red items.

    But will see over the next 3 months. Its highly possible to get drops for a week then nothing for 3 months.
