Wiz pets. Old story, new twist?

So, I know there have been many a post on pets, time, taming, stealing, resting timer, etc etc. and I know Andys reluctance to meddle further with them.

However, a long time unfairness/gripe has been a wiz spending 3hr to hunt down a pet/s in BDP/RDD can have some person of dubious parentage steal it from them in 2 seconds when you use them in game (I am not keeping mine in safe maps all the time thanks).

I propose, that if you look after your pets they will be more loyal. Keep them well tamed on the timer, then the success of some other wiz trying to tame should be proportionatly more difficult.

100% tame time = 0% chance of steal.
50% tame time = 30% chance of steal

Or some such ratio.

Thoughts? Little tweak on taming code?

Just trying to make the gameplay a bit fairer.

Cold.

People killing them is equally a concern, it's one of the main things that puts me off wiz and what drove me to play tao instead. At least on tao I can just respawn them when someone acts the goat :)

Aye, I do concur there art drawbacks to folk slaying them. Perchance by augmenting the attack against those who harm pets, it would make such behavior less enticing. I seek not to alter the dynamic or substance, merely the capability for wizards to retain their hard-earned pets. Warriors care not, Taoists can resummon their pets. Wizards, cannot.

The pets are too overpowered anyway, the whole point of them being hard to obtain is because you damn right should work for the privilege of letting pets play the game for you, also why orcs were added to the pet tame menu for those that dont want to hunt bdp/rdd, you cant have it all.

well said Cold what a great idea. I Vote for cold too be a GM … I would also suggest if Gm does this suggestion that he also boost the pets taming to 2 hours or we will be constantly taming, to stop being stolen.

Behold! In an attempt to usurp my declaration with outlandish musings of but two fleeting hours, let us tread with measured pace upon the path. Softly, let us commence with the smallest of strides.

What sayest thou?

Thy counsel is sound, and thou hast mine full support.”

Pray, may we receive word from those who govern? Mayhap, a reply from the esteemed keepers of authority?

What sayest thou?

I maintain my original stance that I've had for years. Rather than making constant adjustments to improve the management of pets, make them less of a requirement. Pets should be a thing you tame while you're on a hunt and if they die they die, it's cool, don't worry about it.

As it is, wiz need pets to kill bosses anywhere near the same time as tao/war do, without pets things with high hp take forever to the point that it's not worth bothering. I've found myself while out levelling wiz, come across a boss, I'll actually log tao to go kill it, because that is faster than just killing it on wiz while I'm already there, that's how wild the difference is.

Give wiz the ability to hunt effectively without pets, then if you get the opportunity to tame something decent to help you along then that helps a tiny bit, but shouldn't be a game changer.

That's the direction we should be going, rather than making more and more improvements to the pets themselves, because all that does is make it even more of a disaster when you do lose them.

A wizard’s strength may indeed be greatly enhanced to take the place of our animal friends, yet the companionship and bond we share with our beloved pets can never be replaced by a mere augmentation of our might. Such tender affections are beyond the reach of mere sorcery.

I thought that was what we kept Zoonie around?

Thou dost tread upon perilous terrain! The wrath of The Zoonie must not be taken lightly! I entreat thee, consider that we are all, in truth, sheltered 'neath her vigilant protection.
That's not vigilant protection, it's just a giant umbrella. Great for the rain but not much use against tigers

Lo! Stalwart are the all-embracing arms that provide sanctuary to the dauntless wanderer. Verily, the Zoonie is a prodigious force of nature, one that must never be undervalued nor scorned.

Oh yeah - and Scorp - any chance of a response to the suggestion?
